Dorothea, 27ft Wooden Gaff Yawl built along the lines of the West Country Falmouth Quay Punts. 27ft 3ins deck length, 5.66 tons registered weight. Built and designed by W.E.Thomas of Falmouth in 1909. A Carvel planked displacement hull of Pitch Pine planking on Oak. A Traditional Gaff Yawl rig, Main mast and Mizzen with auxiliary engine.
A solid Classic wooden vessel, offerings comfortable accommodation in one open cabin with headroom of 5ft 8ins .
Presently laid up for the Winter , Undercover on a tidal mud berth mooring, plan is to have her refitted in the Spring and then return to her Summer mooring May/ June.
She underwent a major restoration 15 years ago, the" Works" included:
New Transom, Stem post & Garboards, The keel was dropped and she was given new keel bolts . Many of the ribs were replaced or doubled , She had one or two new planks, a new beam shelf, new Oak deck beams & a new deck ( Laid teak on top of epoxied marine ply. The interior cabin professionally fitted out in Oak.
In her present ownership of five years, she has been well kept, sailed, kept on a swinging mooring in the Summer. and professionally maintained. Covered over during the Winter.

Portside amidships is a half bulkhead. A new sea toilet installed ahead of the double berth filling the forepeak.
From the Companionway steps, a quarter berth to starboard. a bench seat to perch on at the navigation station and chart table. For the most of the internal headroom of 5ft 8ins. Headroom over the companionway steps with a Doghouse formed in the cabin sides giving the ability to stand at the wash bowl, a Bronze manual water pump, feeds the galley sink. A gimbled, double burner gas hob, grill and oven. Gas locker is set astern of the cockpit. and drains out through the hull. Gimbled oil cabin lamps.
Two opposing settee bench berths with stowage behind and beneath, trotter box over the port side berth., Blue with black fleck upholstery coverings. In the fore peak is a double berth. Small opening bronze portlight set in her topsides.
Carvel planked long keel hull. Transom stern. Pitch pine on Oak frames.
Teak laid deck, laid on top of 2.5 inch marine ply epoxied deck, a natural scrubbed finish. Deep open Aft, self draining cockpit. A small Teak doghouse rise over the companionway. Opening skylight over the saloon.
External Iron keel, 1/2 ton of internal lead trimming ballast. Tiller steering.
The main mast meets the keel, through the deck.
Teak forehatch and an opening skylight over the saloon were made from wood which came from the control towers of Tower Bridge!...Below Dorothea has been professionally fitted out in Oak, with the exception the cabin sole, of Ash.
A previous owner of her was Mr Trafford Leigh-Mallory in the 1920's, he was in charge of the 12 group in the Battle of Britain with the UK and American Forces, at the time of the Normandy Landings.
