A 80ft engineless, wooden Thames Sailing Barge, 1881. Registered in Rochester, Kent. 1882. Built for carrying a cargo of bricks from Medway to the Thames. She crossed the Channel over to France and Holland, around the coast as far south as Southampton and Devonport. Re surveyed in dry dock June 2024, all was found to be in good order. She was at this time re-antifouled. George Smeed has been completely rebuilt / restored over last 30 plus years. A robust little Traditional GRP Gaff cutter which under went a massive refit, which took two and half years to complete. The restoration was carried out by Alan Staley, Wooden Boatbuilder of Faversham, Kent. The interior reworked, decks were replaced. new engine installed. Soft furnishings required to finish the project. JOY was purchased in a very poor state in 2020, as a "Retirement project", sadly, due health reasons her present owner is unable to complete the project and will never take her sailing. 28ft wooden Smack Yacht, bought as an open boat from Portsmouth,1985. REDUCED Testers Boatyard, Hollowshore, Kent, sold her on, as a "restoration project" to her present owner in 1986. Originally, she was a twin masted Lugger, built circa 1895. It was decided that she would be re rigged to carry a Gaff Rig, A new rig was made, new spars and sails, and an engine was installed, The Boatyard built her a deck and a simple coach roof over a cabin.
